THE eight women and four men who declared Michael Jackson innocent of child molestation today said they had studied the evidence carefully and were confident of their decision.
“We the jury throughly and meticulously studied the testimony and evidence presented,” the panel said in a statement read out in court after they acquitted Jackson.
“Following the jury instructions we confidently came to our verdict.”
They said they hoped their verdict would be a testament to the American justice system.
The panel also pleaded with the army of more than 1400 journalists covering the case to respect their privacy.
Judge Rodney Melville gave the panel final instructions and said they could now speak to other people about the case, including the media.
