Each of the above movies broke new ground.  Will expand to the Top 100 soon.

Foreign films have still not made it, but a chick flick and Michael Douglas did (surprisingly it isn’t Wall Street nor Romancing The Stone…guess which one was his in the above list. )

Johnny Depp? He will be there in the Top 100. So will a host of other legends and classics.

apparently, according to this list the larger the production cost, the better the film.
monstrous back lot sets, explosions tantamount with hiroshima, computer generated seizure inducers, hero’s with emotional complexity spanning from angry to happy, brazen violence met with unreserved lecherous desire towards every big breasted woman, and citizen kane.
how peculiar. but this list does infer your need for intricacy and your view of humanity. it’s humorous to actually see this list.
by the way, is there not one suitable foreign film, or are subtitles just too distracting?

next time write, “my favorite movies,” not “the greatest movies.” if those aren’t your favorites, but what you perceive as superlative, god help us all.

Btw, you will be horrified to know that Citizen Kane, in its time was a big budget “monstrous” movie.

ANY “greatest” movie list is those author’s opinions. In other words “Mr XYZ movie critic’s favourite movies”.

So your argument is very irrational as the same logic you used, can be used against ANY top 10 list made by ANY person, academy, group, institute.

The whole fun of these lists is just that – fun.

And how come you forgot Godfather2?

I can easily say that those “artzy” foreign language movies you “want” in the top 10 list, are boring, poorly edited, unappealing screenplay type of movies…

When I launch my 100 Greatest movies of all time, you will see a larger variety like Gone with the wind.

And NONE of the movies in top 10 have any character leching after any big-breasted woman! I think you haven’t seen ANY of the top 10! All the leching happens in those “artzy” foreign films (basically an excuse to make porn erotica..disguised as “Art”.)

Anyways, if you want to immerse yourself in those porno french, italian “Arthouse” sob stories…feel free to do so!

Meanwhile, am going to compile my top 100.

I like your list. It is the first refreshing group of choices I have seen. And I love the Ghost in the Darkness. I lived there where the lions of Tzavo were when I was a youngster. I would like to see Don’t Look Now on a top list but them I like supernatural horror travel movies I guess.

Best of luck with your work.

  4. Reem Saied says:

    Thanks Barbara.

The 70 to 100 list is going to be very difficult, but will eventually make it… there are easily 500 great movies made…
first 30 was relatively easy…next 70 will be hard 🙂

you can paste any film list you have in mind here. Will check them out.

  5. i would say that Lion King is one of the best animated films that i have ever watched “;’
